Really. How rude of Real Life to interfere with my Bloggy Life!
Oh well. In the interests of putting food on the table for us and the animals, some professional concerns require my attention for the next few days.
So here I am in my work clothes. This is my summer uniform; slightly dressy top, comfy skinnies and a sweet little heel (can't see the ankle strap, and the color is off, but these little bronze d'Orsay pumps by BCBG were a gratifying purchase at deep discount, and they are wear-all-evening comfy.)
The top you saw here last winter ... it's a favorite and sheer enough to be comfy on this 95 degree afternoon. Summer is here.
Ho hum. Yawn. I expect I'll frequently choose some variation on this combination, but I'm feeling the need to step it up a notch. Stay tuned.
Please note the little ear cuffs. Since I've cut my hair so short, I'm suddenly yearning for earrings, which I haven't worn in a couple of decades. I'm particularly fond of these sleek little cuffs, more sedate than the ones I wore in the art school era. Shopping for earrings is a challenge because there are so many to choose from. Bazillions of them. Any suggestions?
Late and on the run, I'm joining the ladies of Visible Monday over at the ever elegant Patti's. Lots to look at and love over there!
It's been a bit the same here, Jan - life getting in the way of blogging! But it's always a joy to see you, no matter how briefly, and looking chic and elegant and put together (which is, after all, your trademark!) The ear cuffs look fabulous, and the print and (is that leather or faux?) detail on your top are very glamorous.
ReplyDeleteNow, to business, Jan - hope you get everything sorted! xxxx
LOVE your ear cuffs Jan. I haven't tried those, although I did buy a pair of clip on earrings at a thrift store last month. They are surprisingly comfortable and no pinching. And I agree...short hair and earrings are like peas in a pod. They just work so well together! Loving those shoes too!
ReplyDeleteFor earrings, I like some kind of drop. I especially like drops with motion to them. A teardrop shape is lovely in an earring. I wear studs and hoops, but drops are my favorite.
ReplyDeleteI can relate! Right now RL has me doing so many things at once I wonder if I'm not half-assing most of them. My "uniform" right now is far less glamorous than yours as I wrangle dogs and exercise to get stronger and sculpt this body (hah). If this is your uniform I want in, because it's perfectly lovely for a variety of venues and occasions.
ReplyDeleteI rarely wear earrings, either, but I'm loving those cuffs. As a petite person with a small face I can tell you that scale is important. I bought some clip-on hoops that are so big they make me look like a cartoon character!

What a great work outfit! I don't wear earrings, because my holes closed, but I like something that dangles a bit! :)
ReplyDeleteI love your uniform and your ear cuffs! I have ear cuffs on my wish list. I have three piercings in each ear and usually wear studs in the top two and then vary the original hole with something dangling, nearly always silver. Sometimes I vary the studs with sleepers. I need to organise my earrings so I can see what I have. I'm always defaulting to the same few pairs. I'm going to give mismatched studs a try soon. It's the latest thing apparently.

Ah, real life -- so intrusive! I really like your blouse, ear cuffs and shoes - you look cool and fab. And thanks for sharing your look with Visible Monday, xox.
ReplyDeleteThat's okay, we'll forgive you...you look too lovely for us to hold a grudge!!!
ReplyDeleteTotally agree, how is it that real life thinks it should and then somehow totally takes over? I don't know about you, but I have all these high hopes for blogging and responding and corresponding and then . . reality walks in. O' well, I guess we just do the best we can, right? By the way, your work attire is super sleek and stylish. As for the ear cuffs, they suit you well. I gave up wearing earrings many years ago, I should send you all mine.
ReplyDeleteLife sometimes does get in the way, money must be earned, got to feed both you and the pets. This is one elegant uniform, love the top. New hair , new ear rings, so good together. Enjoy your busy time.
ReplyDeleteYes life does get in the way of blogging but should always come first. I am liking those ear cuffs on you - it adds a bit of edginess to the feminine top. I am a big fan of earrings and used to love wearing all types but now just stick mainly to hoops.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your 4th!

That's a cute top on you that can go from day to date night in a hurry. Those ear cuffs are just right for your haircut. Enjoy your summer.
ReplyDeleteReally stunning top and outfit. I agree about real life being rude to interrupt blog life, down here there has been many interruptions and regretfully the blog had to make way for work.... You look great!

Hi Jan, Very classy look. I love the sheer top and is that leather across the top of the shirt? I have short hair and I find that I wear stud earrings or hoops most of the time. Drop earrings can be tough with short hair. I will wear them if I have the perfect neckline, such as an off the shoulder top. I really like your ear cuffs - a nice unexpected touch to your outfit.
ReplyDeleteI clicked through to your winter variation... that was the post which inspired me to buy similar shoes, remember haha. (I will shut up about the hair.)
ReplyDeleteThis summer outfit looks very nice. And I don't mean nice as in so so. I mean nice in looking ever so good. How on earth you can run about on those heels all evening, is a miracle to me. If you can, they are worth every penny. Heck they would have been worth their full price.
As for the ear cuffs... I had spotted them before you mentioned them. Are they appreciated by people in your environment?

Beautiful blouse! By the way, I find wonderful earrings on Etsy.com where you can use a search option or just browse for handmade or vintage. If you're not a huge on line shopper I like little import shops for earrings. I love your cuff, think I'll have to get myself one, or 2, 3...
ReplyDeleteThat's a very pretty top, and the ear cuffs are great, rose gold? That's what it looks like on the photo. I think you should apply the same style rules on ear rings as on the rest of your jewllery: if you like simple and modern, then find something like that... If you're on the mood for something more intricate, then chandelier... And if you're like me, you'll end up with every style possible... Not that I wear ear rings, they'd have to be the size of Christmas ornaments to be visible behind my hair, so why bother..
ReplyDeleteGorgeous top, Jan! I would add a pair of stud earrings to this outfit, something simple (perhaps gold ball earrings). But, the ear cuffs look cool too!
ReplyDeleteI love your work outfit, very classy. The ear cuffs are perfect for you.

Literally could mould not love that ear cuff more!!! That tank looks killer with the jeans and heels.
ReplyDeleteYet another stunning look!
ReplyDeleteFabulous look Jan. Love your sheer top and ear cuffs!!!
ReplyDeletelovely work clothes, cool and elegant with a twist!, gorgeous!!
ReplyDeleteI'm a huge fan of earrings (i'm used to wear at least four), and I think short hair is great to show your little earrings and cuffs, but you can also wear something huge. I don't know if you would like chandelier earrings, but they're now an option!!
besos & earrings
I've felt the same since I got my pixie cut. I feel the need to wear earrings since my ears are showing and I've switched to more button shaped and less of the longer ones. My favorite places for jewelry shopping are Burke's and Burlington Coat Factory because the name brands are so deeply discounted you can buy a bazillion so just don't choose, Jan, and get 'em all! I picked up four pairs the last time time I was at Burke's. So much for decluttering! Debbie @ ilovemylemonadelife.com
ReplyDeleteI love those ear cuffs and I think I love the top even more! Am I behind or what?? This post is from the beginning of the month...I miss you! It's that damn life getting in the way thing I suppose...

Love the fancy top and nice pairing with the skinny pants. It will probably look great too with dark green or blue skinnies to match the other accent colors in the top.
ReplyDeleteYou surprised me with that cuff! Ohh baby baby! I love it! Very edgy :)
