When last I wrote, I was preparing to
take off a couple of days from the Blogosphere to slap together a new
and improved website for our business, effortlessly and all-easy-peasy-like.
When, oh when will I learn?
I won't bore and belabor you with the
infuriating details, but suffice it to say that it was a lot harder
than I though it was going to be. Really a LOT harder.
But it's done, and the new site is up
and I will be back around to see everyone at the Lovably Layered Patti's Visible Monday link party and catch up with my
correspondence eventuality. I still have some cyber-business related
chores to tackle, but I can see the finish line ahead.
The photo above is all I have to show
you this week, and I'm sorry that it's not a What I Wore photo, but
it is a pretty good graphic representation of how my week went.
Now that I can think of something other
than my revenge- fantasy desire to choke the life out of a couple of
tech-service reps, I can tell you that I was able to take a few
minutes break this week from real work and steal a peek at the the
fall style issues of the big, glossy fashion magazines that are just now
arriving. Wow! Lots of new ideas to consider, and when I'm done
with all my chores I'm going to start my Fall-Winter 2014-15 Lust
List. It's part of my style-obsession hobby to luxuriate in plans for fall
purchases. And it carries the added benefit of helping me stick to
planned purchases rather than the kind one makes when one finds
oneself in TJ Maxx after a couple of glasses of wine with dinner and no list in hand. Or is that just me?
But even though I just love fall,
there's no hurry this year. Another reason I don't have a WIW photo
for you is that I'm really enjoying wearing some of my favorite, feel-fabulous summer looks again that you've already seen. There's still time to
try some different combinations, and I hope to show you some as we
have lots of summer left down here in Steamy Old Nowhere.
I can't tell you much yet about what
will be on the Fall List, but you can be sure there will be shoes.
Lots of shoes.
Jan I love your photo, glad things are getting sorted xx
ReplyDeleteBeen there, done the TJ Maxx woozy binge. Congratulations on getting the job done, and I lurve your photo. Thanks for sharing with Visible Monday! xox
ReplyDeleteShoes! Already I'm buying Fall booties and wondering where in God's name I'm going to put them. I'm also on the prowl for decent wool and cashmere sweaters because mine are just shredded and really need to be retired. Sorry I couldn't be more help with the website!

I know what you mean about the tech-service reps... I had a night of horrors in May when I tried to fix a few issues and the web ate my blog... And I had am army of geeks firing emails at me, telling me what to do in geekspeak... And then after the night of horrors I dragged myself to work and tried to sound like a sane person... It's good you have some style-related distractions to keep you grounded.
ReplyDeleteGood luck with your computer problems. I am not techie either and I am want to make changes to my blog but so not ready for the headaches.

Ha, the pic is fab! Nice to have you back!
ReplyDeleteGlad your web site is finally sorted, you did so well to try yourself. The trouble with techies I have found is that they live a world of their own mostly and have no idea how to explain to us mere mortals.
ReplyDeleteHappy shoe hunting, when the time is right, so sure you will find some treasures.
The fact that you can create a website is impressive to me. I also admire your ability to create a 'lust list.' I live so randomly right now and my organizational skills are slipping. Looking forward to the shoes!
ReplyDeleteYou are so creative, Jan. Oh, you mean that's not what you wore? Too bad, as it is a stunner. I would say you've got some 'graffiti go-go advert' trending now.
ReplyDeleteHa, great photo! You're no dunce, Jan - if you've set up a website, you're a genius in my book (I wouldn't have a clue...) It sounds trying and tedious and frustrating, but it's DONE. So time to show us what you're wearing in Steamy Old Nowhere, and sharing your Lust List. (That sentence sounds like something out of a trashy airport novel from the 1970s, probably written by Jackie Collins.)
ReplyDeleteYou wouldn't be you if you weren't thinking about shoes! xxxx
So good to see you - absolutely love the hair style!!
ReplyDeleteI am with you on the shoes- one cannot have too many!
Can't wait for the next post.
All the best, Mimi

Ha! the photo cracked me up. Glad you've got your website for your business up and running. Could you send me the link? I'd like to see it, I'm curious.
ReplyDeleteHi Jan, that photo is something else, hilarious!! I know the feeling, I have been very busy as well but hey thats life. I totally agree its style hobby not obsession :) and of course every woman wants to be Imelda Marcus (in the shoe department). One can never have enough I say!! Well done setting up that new website. xo
ReplyDeleteI wish I could be so organized as you. I just go into a store and when something catches my eye, I will try it on. If it looks good, I will buy it. My husband said: if that is your criterium, you have a lot more to buy and there won't be an end to it. Which is exactly my problem. As there is an end to my savings.....
ReplyDeleteGreetje
Web hosting or moving a blog .. is a chore! Glad you saw it through and got everything up and running. Will look forward to seeing your fall wish list .. for me .. it's ankle boots .. must have .. more!
ReplyDeleteMonica, www.pear-shaped-gal.com
who doesn't love shoes right.good luck with all things net related, always a nightmare
ReplyDeleteLOVE the photo Jan! You are such a funny lady!!! I LOVE shoes and can't wait to see your list!!!
ReplyDeletexo,
Janise
Funny photo, Jan! I am sure it brings smile on the face of everyone who sees it. Congratulations on that hard job of web hosting being done. Am really curious to see your lust list for the coming cold season.
ReplyDeleteWhat a funny picture :). Love your mustache :) I'm happy to hear that your new website is up and running. You're a multi-talented lady! Will be waiting for your Fall List! Have a wonderful week.
ReplyDeleteThank you ... sorting is the exact word. Lots of Q and A with a lot of companies, and boy, did I learn a lot in the process. So happy you stopped by!
ReplyDeleteAh, thanks Patti. I've got a shirt I need to take back from just such a trip. I try not to abuse the return policy, but so glad it's there!
ReplyDeleteHey, kid! So glad I never got my fall wardrobe completely put away. Sometimes, sloth does pay off! My sweaters are bad as well ... I'm actually looking for ways to alter knits. I've put up with too long sweaters for too many decades. Neat crop of crops to look at, the few that are out there. I like a fine gauge knit for most things. A bit more difficult to find at prices I can afford, much less in petite lengths.
ReplyDeleteThe website stuff was primarily logistical so I had to figure that out for myself.
Hope all is well in your wide world!
Thank again and again and again, Joni! Much better result, and you made the suggestion. I've had the same hosting for over 8 years and it was a loooooong learning curve catching up with what is possible. GoDaddy does, indeed, rock!
ReplyDeleteIs there poodle stuff out there for me? I'll go find your email ASAP ... I'm thrilled at the prospect!
Thanks, Romy. You are easily my favorite latter day Hippy Chick!
ReplyDeleteOh, Jill .... you have NO idea. About both things; I've learned whole new worlds from the good techies. I've lost clumps of hair because the bad ones.
ReplyDeleteI'm only buying shoes I can't live without ... and yesterday I found a pair of red-ankle straps that I have looked for an entire year! Thought of you ... you'll see them soon!
Too broke to pay anyone else to do a site for us and do it right!
ReplyDeleteMy shopping list so far this year is short, but I can predict a growth spurt after I see what's actually out there. Thank you so much for stopping by ... I'll have shoes to show you soon, so stay tuned!
Thanks, Pao. I only give the impression of being creative. I'm really just loud.
ReplyDeleteIf I were smarter, it wouldn't have been such a chore. I had a bit of a long learning curve catching up with what is possible in the Web Building Tools for Dummies. It's mostly done. It's the basics, and I have some elements that need adding and amending. I need some time to catch up with everything else, and can at least do it without feeling guilty! The rewards of the end of long procrastination are sweet!
ReplyDeleteThanks, darling girl, for dropping by with such kind thoughts. Completely appreciated!
Hi, Mimi! Hope you're feeling better these days ... I hope this fall brings more out and about moments for you. You always look much better than you think you do, pretty Mimi!
ReplyDeleteHi, Shani! Oh, doll, meeee toooo ... I'm so glad to have it up. Not perfect, but up. You can find us at keltspubinfo dot com .
ReplyDeleteI still haven't gotten over how much I love your hair!
Howdy, Elsie! Your mention of good old Imelda reminds me of my mother. She was a shoe lover as well, and she never threw away a pair, I don't think. She had long thin feet that were beautiful but hard to fit, and I always envied how they looked. We called her Imelda to tease, and she used the fit problem as an ideal excuse to buy better brands. I miss shopping with her ... she was a great one to encourage that extravagance, and would otherwise squeeze a penny until they squeaked.
ReplyDeleteSo glad you stopped by!
It's really not so much that I'm organized, Greetje ... I wish I were! I only have a few hours a week to go into town, and fewer still to devote to my own "recreational" shopping, as Dan calls it. Harumph. So I spend extra time planning my trip, thinking about what I want/need, and how best to get it done. That's one of the reasons I began the blog ... it's soothing thinking for me to consider style ideas, and fun, and way less expensive than running loose in the stores.
ReplyDeleteYou know, I was much less interested in clothing when I had much more variety available to me in Seattle. Now, pieces I like are a lot more valuable since they are harder to get!
Isn't that the way with most things?
So happy you stopped by for a chat!
Yes. A chore indeed. It's a relief after so much procrastination!
ReplyDeleteBoots! Yes ... but I want some updated knee-highs in something besides black. Since I don't like flat heels, my choices this year are limited. It's early yet, and I haven't given up.
There are ankle boots all over, and I know you'll find beauties. Nice for a mild climate!
Thanks, Janise ... my job is to entertain!
ReplyDeleteThank ya' much, Ma'am for the complement! Except for how much it costs to maintain it (gulp!), I'm liking it, too. I checked out your site, so you're in Altus! How cool! Your pub looks yummy, yummy.
ReplyDeleteThat photo is too cute and I know that a website takes too much time and patience, but it is worth it in the end and you will feel blessed when you can help someone else later. Where is steamy nowhere? Sounds like my neighborhood. Enjoy whats left of Summer. . .
ReplyDeleteJan, you could post words alone and we would all still love your site. You are by far the most entertaining writing of us all. I also hear you with the tech stuff . . . I hate to think its our age, but man, it can be so difficult at times. I'm in awe that you even tackle this project by yourself.
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see your fall fashion list (but do your chores ever end, my dear?). I'm thinking I might need to join Par soon so the two of us can do some shoe shopping.
Is that really you Jan? I thought someone had hijacked your blog! Awww but yes, even with a red clown nose and a handlebar moustache, I can see your sparkling eyes and happy smile! You're so cute ... AND talented!!
ReplyDeleteHappy Labor Day weekend my dear!
♥ carmen

Don't you just looovvee the fall issues?! I don't have a lust list yet because Maricel and I are on a 90 day no buy together....but come November....I'm sure I'll pick up a thing or three. :)

Trina, lovely lady, you always say the nicest things. Very high compliments, and I'm grateful you like what I write. One of the reasons I'm always behind is because I'm too involved reading the great blogs like yours and so many others that inspire. So glad you are entertained. That's everything for me.
ReplyDeleteI'm always up for the shoe shopping!
Thank you Carmen ... that might be the most "me" of all my photos. What kind comments! Much appreciated, C, and I join you in the hope that we all have a great Labor Day weekend!
ReplyDeleteI do, I do! It's never that I'm going to run out and buy any of it, but It's endlessly interesting to me to look at the process of people who actually spend time making these kinds of visual ideas real , and how other kinds of artists present that work. All that and more fascinates me and I'm glad it's not just me that likes them! I'm sure the magazines would be happy that's the case, for sure!
ReplyDeleteGood luck you kids ... I'm saving for a few fall things, too, and doing lots of closet diving!
I'm so flattered that you have added me to your list of "Amazing Bloggers..." I have returned the favor. I'm a Big Fan, Jan. Cheers, M-T
