It's Official ...

I knew it would happen one day, and that day is here.

I'm little.
I'm an old lady.
And I'm wearing Keds Champions.

I am now a Little Old Lady In Tennis Shoes.

I'm a LOLITS.
Note that the first three letters are LOL. You may begin. Go for it. Knock yourself out.

So, that's it.
Don't get used to me in flats, much less athletic shoes.
Just seemed like the thing to do on a lazy Sunday in the Big City.

I'm off to try to catch up with all of you. Have a great one, you young whippersnappers.

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
Late breaking ....
I'm popping over to Patti's Visible Monday  ... come see what we're all up to!

  1. You crazy girl. There is nothing LIttle Old Lady about you. I dare you to wear those sneakers every day!

  2. Shut up! You are too adorable! And you look so happy! That's what counts, right? And I'll be a LOLITS right there with you in my Chucks! (Btw, you are one letter shy of "Lolita"; I dunno if that's a good thing or not.)

  3. You are certainly not old and I know you will be back in heels soon. . .

  4. I burst out laughing when I read this - and trust me, I needed that today. I think you look fantastic, and I love everything about this look!

  5. You look amazing dear old lady ;) love that combo!

  6. You a little old lady, I don`t think that is happening time soon.Great black and white outfit, see you back in those heels soon no doubt.

  7. Did you also notice that LOLITS is just one letter off from LOLITA? The only difference between youth and age is AS, add another "S" and that would be accurate for most of us! I think you look awesome in your Champions and dotted trousers. I. need. sneakers. too.

  8. I actually think they look quite youthful. All in the eye of the beholder! Are you usually a LOLIH? Sweet to taste? ;-) xo JJ

  9. If that's what a little old lady looks like than I can't wait to get there myself. x

    ReplyDelete
  10. Oh, please, you are NOT old. You certainly don't look old and although I've never met you, I get the impression you certainly don't act old. So, there you go, my two centimes worth.

    ReplyDelete
  11. Ha, you make me chuckle, Jan!
Little old lady... I don't think so! Little? Yes. Lady? Hmm, most of the time! (I'd need to check with Dan!) Old? Hell, no! Gorgeous? Absolutely! xxx

  12. Ah, so you're the one those high top tennies with heels are made for... Meanwhile, I think you missed the boat on the LOL look. Much to fun and flirty. I see flats are in your future...

    ReplyDelete
  13. It looks like a perfectly polished, yet casual look for running errands. Nothing little or old about it, very stylish.

  14. You look adorable and elegant in this seemingly easy outfit, Jan! It's a great picture of you, so relaxed and cute. Love the pattern play and classic black and white palette. And I actually love wearing flats/keds etc, it's comfy AND stylish. :)

  15. Fabulous outfit ..! It has all my favs .. black/white and tennis shoes .. oh, I'm just a casual gal at heart.

  17. Whippersnapper hahaha... thanks for teaching me another fun word.
Well, you are not talking to me, so much is clear.
First I think you look good in this relaxed outfit. But you have to answer me: why Keds Champions? There are thousands of cool sneakers these days. Listen who's talking... I just bought black and white All Stars... which is the same thing haha. So I am a TOLIBS (Tall Old Lady In Boring Sneakers). Hmmm Tolibs... sounds a little like trollop.

  18. Such a nice, easy outfit. Love it!

  19. That shirt! It's so good!!! Love this whole black and white look.

  20. I'm little and in running shoes RIGHT NOW, so this bodes well for my future. :D

Little Old Lady In Tennis Shoes must be a stereotype, yes? The Asian equivalent is Old Asian Lady With Giant Sun Visor And Sunglasses. I know it's in my future.

  21. Awwwh. Thank you, Connie. Really, the tennies are an anomaly for me, but I do have a burgandy pair as well, but won't wear them every day. Dan loves this outfit way more than he should ... brings back our youth! Haven't worn Keds in probably 50 years ... such a reminder that if you live long enough, it all comes back around! The other thing I like about it is how n

  22. And you are generous with your praise. Thanks awfully. Yes, one letter and 50 or so years! Some pieces are just classic, and this was a fun combination to wear. Dan loves it ... I wasn't even going to photograph until he insisted. A walk down memory lane ... he must have crushed on a girl in Keds at some time or another!

  23. Awwwh, thanks, Neti! In January, I'll be officially old ... 65. I don't feel ancient, and 65 is different than when my grandmother and mom where that age, but it's kind of a cultural milestone birthday. The prospect of this b-day isn't really bothering me as much as much as I thought it would, but I may be in denial. We'll see.

And yup ... back in heels already!
    So happy you stopped by!

    ReplyDelete
  24. I am! And I'm feeling grateful that I got so far feeling so well. It was a little strange looking at my feet in these Keds. It took me flying back to my teens in ways I wasn't prepared for. Talk about the power of clothes!
Thanks for all, Alice ... so happy you stopped by!

    ReplyDelete
  25. Thank you, Lana! So happy you got a smile. That's the point of much of my blogging, so it feels good right back that you had fun with it.
My huz, Dan, is really into this look ... takes him back to some ancient crush he had on a girl in Keds from the way-back-when, I'm guessing.

  26. Thank you, Princess Whippersnapper! I appreciate the compliment from a very chic young friend. No doubt, getting old beats the alternative, and there's something to be said for trying to look as good as possible in the process.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Yeah, I'm pretty sure that almost 65 (this coming January) qualifies me ... at least here. It's traditionally when our social safety net becomes available to most of us, here. Not quite ready for that, but this will be a landmark birthday, and I'm dealing with it by trying to laugh in it's face as early as possible! But thanks, Jilly ... I appreciate the vote of confidence and any kind remarks sent my way!

    ReplyDelete
  28. I SO needed to laugh today, my friend - thank you for that!
If you're the definition of "LOLITS" I may just need to join you (btw, you've never looked younger than you do in that photo!).

  29. Nothing LOLITS about this post! I'd wear those same shoes if I could. But with arch supports in them they are just too flat. I love this whole outfit!

    ReplyDelete
  30. You are in the great and right age to wear anything anytime! Looking lovely in a sporty look and in flats. Sara

    ReplyDelete
  31. This is what I wear when I'm lazing around. I love the colour of your hair!

    ReplyDelete
  32. That's a cute look. The pants are great. I don't think we ever outgrow sneakers. I have three pairs of Vans which always make me feel young wearing them.

    ReplyDelete
  33. I did not know I needed sneaks. It's times like this that remind me of how potent clothing-memory can be, especially in the neo-elderly (ahem.) I remember, in my early teen years, wearing white tennies all year except a few weeks around Christmas. Dan, surprisingly, nuts about this outfit ... I know it brings back memories of some unattainable girl in his freshman English class. Fun to bring a little of that time forward to the now ... a very different thing than trying to go back.
Thank you, Little White Cat, for your sweet comments. I'd love to see what you'd do with these little blank canvas shoes ... the comparison isn't lost on me.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Sugar-free LOL. If you mean Little Old Lady in Heels, yup. Usually. Generally, I'm either barefoot or in heels (or boots with heels) ... seems like there's not much in between in my closet. Time to embrace mid-range footwear, it seems. Fun to reclaim this retro look ... here's where I admonish those who object to me wearing a style that I have worn in previous decades that they should bite me. They're just scared of how well we'll do it the second or third time around.
Thanks, Jack, for encouraging a little old-lady-style uppityness!

    ReplyDelete
  35. Thanks, Vix ... you will be a knock-out LOL. So much time yet for you to get there, though. So glad you like my lazy look, and that you stopped by to say so!

    ReplyDelete
  36. Okay. I agree. Ha! Seriously ... at my age, I really need to get used to at least nominal old age. It's a life skill. Thank you, Shani ... I'm glad you perceive me as not old, though. I'm on a personal crusade to redefine "old." Good luck with that, right? If a thing is worth doing, it is worth a big but futile plan of action!
Seriously and thank heavens, old isn't what it used to be. For that, I'm happy.
So lovely to hear from you!

    ReplyDelete
  37. Dan says he's not saying. So there we are. I assure you, I'm as much of a lady as most situations demand. Delighted, as always, with you very kind and supportive words ... thanks, Curtise, for all!

    ReplyDelete
  38. You know, I tried on a pair of those. Not good. I love a hidden platform wedge as much as the next girl, but in the guise of a tennie-runner, it's just beyond my taste and understanding. Flats may well be in my future, but they just remind me how much better I look in a heel.
I frequently miss boats. It's a hallmark of every decade of my life!

    ReplyDelete
  39. Thank you, Tiina! I'm always happy when you stop by to say such nice things!

    ReplyDelete
  40. I'm fine for a while in them ... but after a few hours, I'm ready for the solid emotional support of a sturdy stiletto. I swear to you, everything looks taller when I wear a flat. Hmmmm....
Thank you, Natalia, for liking this look. Dan is wild about it. I'm almost jealous of the girl in tennie-runners that he must have once had a terrible crush on!

    ReplyDelete
  41. I'd be happier if I didn't suddenly feel so SHORT! I know I am, but I get so used to the world looking 3.5 inches different. I feel like I'm walking the world in my own private and shallow trench. I do like the black and white Keds ... lots of good memories from when I wore them as a girl!
    Thanks, Monica, for stopping by!

    ReplyDelete
  42. Oh, that's an old, old acronym! The mid-last-century conservatives here catered heavily to retired values-voters ... the eccentric old lady in track shoes was the image. The more liberal version was a LOL in combat boots. You KNOW I'm going to show out in them one of these days soon. Just can't let a bad joke lie there, homeless and unappreciated.
Thank you, Suzanne ... happy you got a kick out of it.

    ReplyDelete
  43. I looked up the origins of "whippersnapper" ... late 17th century, English. A noisy, boisterous young person. I like it!
I'm talking to all you youngsters out there!
Why not Keds Champions? You should know ... they're cool here, and were cool when I was about 15. So long ago! I'm shocked they are still being made! I just like the shape of the "whitewalls" and the toe box better than Vans and Converse iterations.
Thank you ... I like how this looks, too. I'm a big fan of Old Navy's brand of printed stretch trousers. They're called Pixie Pants ....that appeals to me, for some reason. And are they ever a beautiful fit!
Delighted to see you here, Greetje!

    ReplyDelete
  44. Joni!!! Good to see you, and so happy you stopped by. I gotta get around more ... I've missed your spot. Did you do VisMon? I'll get to see everyone tomorrow and Wednesday before my weekend crazy begins.
I know what you mean! I go barefoot pretty much when I'm not in a dressy or dressy-ish shoe but trainers like this are not easy on the arches, I know! I was ready for a bit of a heel after the day in these. Never thought I'd hear myself say that! You always wear cute shoes ....

    ReplyDelete
  45. Thank you, Dawn Lucy ... not impressive, particularly, but different for me. I had fun and will wear it more often. It's creepy how much Dan likes this look on me ... must be that girl from half a century ago he's still crushing on. Hmmmm.

    ReplyDelete
  46. This is a look that's worked for women for half a century, at least! I'm a late adopter, it seems.
Thank you, Lorna Mai ... glad you like my hair color. And L'Oreal thanks you, too!

    ReplyDelete
  47. Oh, thank you! Nice of you to say. It's been 50-ish years since I had a pair of sneaks like these! Big shirt, pedal-pushers and Keds. Who knew that trainers like these would still be so good?
Vans! They are several notches cooler than my Keds, but the fit is better for me in the heel and toebox. But Keds, Vans or Converse ... we're all still those kids, it seems!
So happy you stopped by. You're always welcome here!

    ReplyDelete
  48. Thanks, Darlene! You wear trainers quite a lot, don't you? Glad you like the outfit!

I have some Keds now too - I must join you in old-ladyhood. But we still rock. Love your look and thanks for linking up, xox.

  50. This is funny, because just this past week I had a horrible shoes incident (once again). Excrutiating feet. Stopped on way home from work and bought extremely plain canvas slip on shoes. I felt they were "old lady shoes", but didn't give a hoot. They were soooooo comfy. I'm now on a mission to find more "LOLS" for myself. ha We're a sisterhood. :)
p.s. I think all these little tennies are now in style though. I see so much in fashion nowadays that may be ugly, but is so on trend. I'll just imagine I'm cool.

I have pink sparkly runners, do they count? I love your short hair, Jan!

    ReplyDelete
  52. I know this is an old post, but, but, but, Keds are definitely not un-cool athletic shoes. They're awesome. My husband knows he could buy me just about any pair of keds for a gift and I'd be delighted. :)

  53. I don't see anything to laugh about dear Jan! Just a lovely little lady in comfy but sooo cool sneakers wearing pretty pants and a great hair-style. I read your former posts, dear. Your hair dresser did a very good job. I love your new look. Very sassy!
