Little Short Post

After last week's long winded post, I thought I'd give you a break.

Short and sweet, this week. Just like ME. (hahahahahahahah!)

Although I don't really have my Fall-Winter 2014-15 Lust List fully compiled yet, and it's still hot here, I'm transitioning into an Autumnal State of Mind.

I came across this dressy little skirt ... one of the first real midis I've seen in any of my haunts here. It happened to be love at first sight, and the price was right.  How could I not bring it home and put it right to work? I'll wear it often this fall and winter, too, I know.

But for now, I'm beginning to bid a fond farewell to summer with a white embroidered lace crop ( the sororal twin of of the black one I wore some weeks ago here. )

The little BCBGeneration shoes are a recent purchase as well.  Hard to see in the big picture, but here's a close up ... these little darlings deserve their own pic.  They're suede and some minuscule reptile-reminiscent (like from a really tiny reptile) textured fabric.  I love them, and you'll undoubtedly see them again.

And that's that for this week.

I'm going over to Darkly Sleek Patti's Visible Monday to catch up with the grownup glamourati.  Join me?

  1. Ohh...I just ordered a very similar skirt from ASOS and hope it works out. I love those wedges the mix texture gives it an extra something special.

Also, are you excited for the Target x Altazarra collaboration? There are some great pieces that I want but not sure I am ready of the constant hype of these collaborations.

BTW, I am hosting my first link up this Thursday and hope that you can join me.

  3. Loving the tiny reptile shoes...how many tiny reptiles do you suppose it took to make those? The detailing on that skirt is so fabulous and the lace crop top is perfection with it. Well done my friend!

  7. Oh, man! It's a good thing you don't link where you buy things because that skirt and those shoes would be mine and then where would my 90-Day Spending Fast be? Utterly adorable and covetable, as usual. :D

  8. Such a cute skirt and great shoes!

  9. Short and sweet indeed, Jan! What a fabulous skirt, with that cheeky sheer panel - rather sexy, I must say (does Dan agree?!) Beautiful shoes, and you definitely have the full skirt and crop top look down pat. Lovely! xxx

  10. Beautiful shoes and fun skirt! Love how you combined it with the cropped top, you look super stylish, Jan! And I thought that your idea of hiking is the best!!! :)

  11. Gorgeous skirt and shoes, these are great buys and in the classic black color so they'll be used often for sure. Summer has gone and I am the only remaining "orty yr old" who has not rocked a cropped topped similar to your white and black blouses! There is always next summer to look forward to though.

  12. Love this outfit on you and you can still wear that top more and more. . .

  13. Short but oh so sweet, Jan, such a great outfit, cant beat black and white. The sheer panel on the skirt certainly adds to its appeal. As for those shoes, stunning again, definately worth their own spot.

  14. Where did you get that gorgeous skirt? It's the perfect midi for us vertically impaired girls and a great pre-Southern-Fall piece. The shoes are fab too, hope we get to see more of both in the future.
(PS you've been paying attention. I am sporting a different 'do ;-) )

  16. That skirt reminds me of one I inserted a band of lace into. I had so many comments about my sexy skirt when the solid top section was actually longer than many of my skirts. It's something about seeing something supposedly hidden...so be warned :-)
Lovely lacy top, and the tiny reptile shoes! Xo JJ

Good to hear from you! Xoxo paula

  21. The sheer panel in the skirt is beautiful! "Grownup glamourati" - love it! That would be a great blog name :)

  22. Oooh, that sheer panel is such a lovely surprise. I can definitely see this skirt as not only being multi-season, but equally suitable for dressy as well as more casual.

  23. You look so elegant in this black-and-white ensemble, Jan! All the pieces in this outfit are so beautiful and have some special feature: the embroidered lace of the top, the sheer panel of the skirt and the cute design of the shoes.

  24. Love your peek-a-boo skirt, Jan. You always look so elegant. xo

  25. I always enjoy your shoes, and you've come up with another dazzling choice. I'm loving the sheer panel that brings interesting detail to your skirt. This black and white composition is the perfect end of the season "special."

  26. I'm sorry I didn't make it to your link-up, dear Alice. My work week really starts on Wednesday, and I'm on the run by Thursday. I will stop by the very minute I can to see how it went! I'm so bad at getting out and about. I'm such a fan of yours that I hate to not be able to come out to play! Hope it went very well and grows fast!

I was so bummed that there were so few things I liked at Altuzarra/Target. See how late I am?
Hope you got some great pieces out your way!

  27. Thank you, Romy! That's easily the best part of this skirt, isn't it?

    ReplyDelete
  28. Thanks, Debbie, so much! How many tiny reptiles? None! It's printed fabric, but it took one really squinty designer with a magnifying glass!

    ReplyDelete
  29. Thank you, Vix ... we had a sudden cooler front come in, and it looks like my goodby to summer was just in time. I love this outfit, and will find a more wintry iteration if I can!

    ReplyDelete
  30. We were, weren't we! Thank you so much, Patti. I'll happily be twinsies with you, anytime at all!

  31. Thank you, Suzanne! Love this skirt, and it feels so pretty when it moves ... fun.

  32. I just always forget to do it ... I found the skirt at Trinkets (they're a chain, aren't they?) and the shoes came home with me from TJ Maxx. Glad you like 'um! Thank you, Gorgeous.

  33. Thank you, Joni! It's probably a little long for me, but I didn't see any realistic way to take it up without more skills than I have. But I agree, it is flirtatious!

    ReplyDelete
  34. Thank you, Becky! I'll miss them this winter, but away they go.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Yes, cheeky! Thank you ... great word. I have got carried away with that look, but it's one of those ideas that I just love so much that I was determined to make it work ... if only in my own mind. I appreciate you very nice comments, always, Curtise.

  36. Thank you, Sabine! I think the whole outfit would work for you ... we have similar shapes, I think. Perhaps not for the fall or winter here with that top, but I will figure out a way to wear it this fall, you wait and see!

    ReplyDelete
  37. I can see you in a cropped top very easily Karen ... no need to show skin. One of the best things I did for myself this summer was buy shapewear tanks in black and white. They work like a charm with these two crops! You can wear cropped sweaters over longer blouses and jeans this year ... you could easily wear them and look great.
Thanks so much, lovely lady! Will look forward to more videos from you!

  38. I should have said ... I'm not being coy. I just forget, or it doesn't seem important to say where I got my dumb stuff. The skirt is from Trinkets ( that's a mall chain, I think).
Oh, good ... are you loving your new do?

    ReplyDelete
  39. I got them at TJ Max ... grabbed them up pretty fast, too.
So glad you stopped by, Monica!

  40. I've got a navy blue flippy skirt that hits just at the knee ... decent, but a little shorter than I want. I need to take it to our local fabric store and see if there's a sheer and a similarly textured panel fabric (in black perhpas) that might work. Great minds ... etc. Good idea and reminder!
Thank you, Jack, for stopping by! Tickled that you did!

  41. I'm fighting to keep up, too, Paula. I try to post, but need to keep time open to visit around. VisMon really helps keep everyone herded together for easy access and a platform for organized hopping! Thanks for taking the time to drop by ... know you're busy, busy!

  42. Sweet Shawna! Thank you ... dashing out for a while, but wished to thank you for stopping by! You are easily one of the most interesting bloggers out there .... I find myself saving your posts to savor as a treat and reply, but then I fail to get back. I persevere!

  43. Thank you, Darlene! Love it when you stop by! Hope you're having fun with late summer.

  44. Darling Sacramento! I'm so sorry I didn't make it to Share-In-Style! I'm just not keeping up with everything, but I'm so happy you are having fun with it! You do such a great job with them!
Voted for you today, though ... thank you so much for your very kind comments!

  45. Thank you, Laurie! So glad you like it. I'll wear it often, and Dan likes the little transparent panel!

  46. Wouldn't it? I may use it some day ... I thought I might attract a local audience, but that didn't happen. Thanks for liking all, and for dropping by, Lana.

  47. Thank you, Sue! I was wanting one like it, and thought about trying to make one. Glad I didn't try it, as I couldn't make one for what I paid for this one! Sometimes, it's good just to buy it! Will be looking for ways to wesr it this winter, for sure.
So happy to see you, kiddo!

  48. Thank you, Olga! The textures didn't show as well as they might have, but they look much more specific in real life. I can see this with a dark sweater, or even a white one. Or a dressy sweat shirt, cropped with jewel accents ... lots of ideas!

  49. Lisa! So glad you stopped by ... thank you for all!

  50. Arent' those the coolest little shoes? Dressy, comfortable, pretty ... I'll wear them a lot. Thank you, Judith. So glad you liked it. I'll wear this neat little skirt a lot this winter, I hope!

  52. Oh Jan! You are looking so elegant! That is not unusual, of course, but you truly represent ELEGANCE!!! I'm still enjoying summer days until the 23. I do love autumn but I haven't finished wearing my summer clothes.

Have a lovely Wednesday afternoon my dear!

  53. So sorry Jan, my email warnings for new blog posts doesn't work anymore (neither for about 6 other blogs, so it hasn't got anyting to do with yours). As I was also doing lots of overtime at work, I didn't search for them either. So I am quickly trying to catch up. I love your top and shoes and I am going on to the next post. See you there.
